Providing security for one's home or business can mean different things to different people. Some are satisfied with $15 locks from the local hardware store. That is fine, if their only concern is about a casual trespasser. Others opt for alarm and video systems. That is fine, also - as long as they keep in mind that the lock on the door is the first line of physical defense against the more malicious intruder, as well as the casual trespasser.
Keep in mind what it is that you want to protect - your privacy, your possessions, your business property or inventory, your personal safety, the safety of employees or customers, or the safety of family members. What are these things worth? And how much can you afford to spend in order to protect them?
There is no single right answer for everyone. At Altic Lock Service, our goal is to provide you with the greatest amount of security at the least cost. We can work within almost anyone's budget. At the very least, we can make sure that the $15 hardware store lock is installed and functioning correctly (even the most expensive lock can be worthless if installed incorrectly), and that some level of key control is maintained (again, even the most expensive lock provides no security if unauthorized persons have keys to it).
There are things we will always recommend - two-point locking systems and strike reinforcement for all residential entry doors, and cylinder or latch guards for commercial locks. These are low cost improvements that greatly increase security. Likewise, there are things we will not recommend - double cylinder deadbolts on residential entry doors, or residential grade locks on commercial doors.
