Break-in Repair
Most break-ins occur when the door is forced open. Usually, there is more damage to the door jamb than to the door or to the locks. Below are photos of a typical door jamb repair after a break-in. The locks themselves were undamaged. The door suffered only minor damage to the metal cladding that was tapped back into shape.

Break-in damage

The result of a forced-entry break-in.

Damage to the door jamb

The door was forced, breaking the jamb. The lock strikes were not tied into the surrounding wall framing well enough to withstand the force.

Door jamb repair

The jamb pieces were reassembled, glued, and screwed into place.

Jamb repaired

At this point, the wood jamb has been repaired.

Entry lock strike replaced

Deadbolt strike preparation

The door jamb has been prepared for an over-sized deadbolt strike replacement.

Deadbolt strike replaced

An over-size deadbolt strike plate was installed with 3" screws that tie into the surrounding wall framing.

Strikes installed

Entry lock and deadbolt have been aligned and installed.

Trim replaced

Repair completed

The jamb has been repaired, new strikes mounted, and trim replaced. A bit of sanding and a fresh coat of paint will have things better than new.
